Oliver Stones did a great job for the movie Platoon. The movie starts with a young volunteer called Chris played by Charlie Sheen, stepping off the plane and not yet realizing what he is getting himself into. From then on we follow him on his journey to hell and back. Platoon is very moving and shows us the innocence of war.
Basically, this is an anti war movie with substance and style. This is quite possible one of the grimmest portraits of war that has ever come out. This finally pulls off the mask to reveal the vietnam war that many had never heard of.
This movie portrayed how some soldiers in the war sometimes got inside the madness, like killing is soo easy for them. I feel particularly very emotional during the time where some of the soldiers killed innocent civilians and still could laugh out of it, even raped some innocent civilians.
That being said, it simply proves this is one great war movie, that has great casts, great plot, and GREAT message that it gives to people, that war is not against enemies, but against themselves... It goes so much deeper than that, if you watch this, you'll know what I mean. This is a film that dared to show the real horrors of the Vietnam war.
