Time for spaghetti!

Sunday I made my first spaghetti and I invited Beth to come over and taste it, and well, the taste comes out delicious! Though I should say it's very spicy!

Wanna cook it again soon!  ♥

Halloween for kids!

The excited kids over Halloween day!

The teachers in disguise!

The Halloween celebration at IEC Hayam Wuruk was a success. I believe both the teachers and the students were having fun. The teachers of course, for them it's time to torture the kids, hehehe. Some of the children were pretty scared, but they got lots of sweets home. Some must have had the nightmare last night.

Hey again!

It's been a long time since I wrote here. I've been too busy with my work. I'm glad that today is Tuesday as I am taking afternoon shift tomorrow. This also means I can stay up late as well as wake up late. Typical lazy person I am!

Allright then, my rants so far:
1. Many deadlines to chase. Lots of projects to do in so little time. I am so doomed! I just hope that I can still improve myself out of these manic activities.
2. Some people to cope with at work. It's not easy to please anyone! I start thinking that I really don't have to do that. Sometimes they need to learn not just to complain but give solutions. If they don't know how to even teach, they shouldn't call themselves teachers.

Even though work can sometimes be overwhelming and frustrating, there are lots of positive things I am happy about. The amiable workmates, the conducive environment and also an open-minded boss SIMPLY MAKE MY DAY!

A new challenge

As I stepped into the office when my boss called me, I had no idea what he's going to talk about.

"Hans is leaving, I want you to replace him, you're our best candidate"

I was shocked. I asked him "Are you sure I'm the person for this job?"

"YES"

That was Last Wednesday conversation. Hans is the academic coordinator in the school I am teaching now, with 3 branches, basically he's my boss after that big boss. This promotion is a big challenge for me, as it's not about teaching, mainly about dealing with teachers, curriculum, books, as well as native english teachers.

I am sure it won't be easy, people will be complaining at first and It's been a long time not to lead an organization since my university years, and this is a school, which is a more complicated society than the ones I ever partook in my campus, yet, I know, and I believe, this is a great chance for me to learn. This will be my life-learning lesson, dealing with people, and this position gives more chance for that.

I hope that I can keep myself humble, open-minded, flexible, open for criticism yet still professional, drawing the lines, taking necessary measures when I have to.

I hope I learn a lot. :) Every hardship will just be a bump on my head, nothing too insurmountable.

That mysterious guy

Listening to one of the most romantic songs that I love reminds me of you. It is not 'cos of the gifts you gave me that makes me treasure you so much, it's about your care, your sincerity when you talked with me. I am thankful and privileged to know someone like you. You are my umbrella guy, the guy that is not into me, but I treasure so much. Never will I ever have bad feeling and bad thought. The distance between us is far, but even that you have impacted my life so much. Whenever I feel sad and low, thinking of you, reminiscing the past will always make me smile. You mean the world to me, PC Ozarko.

I wanna feel that way again...

Conviction (2010)

Just finished watching this few days ago. The film is based on true story, which makes everything better, and not just schmaltzy sentimental film. More than that, it is a great testament to the power of determination, trust, and the bond between siblings. I love Hillary Swank's acting here. She delivers great performance. Rockwell is awesome too. The direction is okay, but not really all that remarkable or anything. Where this film really works, and where you'd expect it to (especially given the cast) is the acting. Love it!

80% for this movie.

Quote of my life

"The wise and the strong make mistakes and fail miserably. But he or she will stand up and walk the same path again, and this process will repeat. The fool and the weak, however, make mistakes and fail miserably. And, he or she will deny such mistakes, and deny the chance for himself or herself to stand up and walk the same path again."

Weekend!

Having the whole day to relax is sometimes good for me. (^o^) I almost finished watching "Prosecutor princess" today. I love it. I just hope to have the right english subtitles for my last 5 episodes.

And this evening, I finally ate wok fen at Suasa again, it's been a long time since I went there to eat. It was very yummy! Finally I had the right way to squander my weekend, eating out and chitchatting at Beth's house.

Need more than 24 hours

It's been ages since I last wrote my blog. Been busy with lots of paperwork, teaching and many more! Owing to common sense, one thing is made crystal clear to me, time is never enough for me. My determinations to write more essays, to take french language course, I find them going south fast... Seriously, how can I buy more time?

Facade

Squeeze my heart
Feeling you're here

But you don't

Seeing the silhouette of us
in the rain

And heart reaching emptiness

It's a facade
cos when heart says ok
That's a lie

Let me cry
in the rain
so no one sees my teardrops

Black Swan (2010)

Rated : R (Restricted) for strong sexual content, disturbing violent images, language and some drug use

I heard of this movie from my workmate, Zak, and I agree with him that this is such a fantastic movie. It's a psychological thriller and the story is unexpected, psychotic, harrowing as it needs to be, yet exhilarating throughout it all. The plotting is crafted with great proficiency and the energy that provokes the carnality within us.

Director Darren, Aronofsky, tells Black Swan as a story about transitions of Nina (Natalie Portman) a metamorphosis within herself. It uses a little passion, melodrama as implicit layers eroding below the film's behaviour as a horror film. It demonstrates to us how such a disciplined, poised, and serene art like ballet could lead to such overblown madness. Such tribulation belongs to Nina, a martyr of her own ambition. Nina's shocking transformation disposes of her beauty and makes her a figure whose very success insinuates her downfall. The last line is enough irony to support the paradoxes of her dreams. For me, it's a fantastic finale that will haunt many.

In conclusion I think Black Swan is sophisticated and emotionally deep movie which provide both great aesthetical values and cerebral thrills. Black Swan loves to venture into the darkness in a way it truly succeeds. The blend of art & passion has never been so intense.

90% for Black Swan.
